The killers poster analysis

Straight away I notice the band is not featured on the poster, this signifies that the band do not want to be seen reinforcing the codes and conventions of the indie/ alternative genre. The next thing I notice is the colours in which have been used, majority of the colours used are purple and white. Purple has connotations to luxury, wealth and sifistication, the colour is also seen to be quite a feminine colour and therefore represents the band to have this flamboyant persona where they aren't a masculine band and shows that alternative side to them. The bands name and the album title appear to follow the trend of indie/ alternative posters where the bands name is at the top followed with the title underneath. The font is bold and in capital letters which has the effect that it stays with the audience longer. The text at the bottom says 'features the single human' this is important as compared to other posters in my research it shows the band has this status and people have heared of them and they aren't an underground band. The website is also featured on the poster, this is a common theme of this genre. On a whole the poster has this grand look to it which challenges the stereotype of a indie/ alternative genre as this genre is suppose to have this low budget look to them making them alternative compared to other artists.
