Alt -j poster analysis

Form this poster we know straight away that the band care about the music rather then how they look, I get this by the fact the band are not featured on the poster. This seems to be a common theme throughout the indie/ alternative genre. Secondly I notice that the poster does in fact use a lot of colours, such as creams and oranges. Orange connotes to peace and cream is a nutural colour so has similar connotations to white I.e pure and innocent. This could signify that this band aren't like any other indie/ alternative band and don't have this bad boy reputation instead they are very much nutural and don't cause harm suggesting the bands music reflects that and doesn't include swear words or drug use within their songs. The main depth of field of the poster is this triangle shape and I am right by saying that this is the bands logo and their fans will recognise them just from this signature logo. Bands such as The XX and Florence and the Machine also follow this trend by representing themselves as a symbol rather then just having the bands name. This really shows off that alternative side and seperating bands /
artists like this from others. In the bottom left corner is the release date of the album something that The killers did not have on their poster. I also know that there is no link to their website reinforcing that the codes that this band has a low budget therefore can't afford some of the luxeries other bands have. Lastly this poster is very much similar to the killers one as the both have this landscape picture as the main focus. This is important as it could suggest the band cares about the environment but also gives this vibe of feeling free which could be shown through their music.
