Arctic Monkeys poster analysis

The poster for this album follows the same theme as the Cd and the music videos. Black and white are the dominant colours used through out giving the poster a simple, sifisticated outlook. Black has connotations of gothic codes and white has connotations of being pure, the juxtaposition of the colours advertises the cd and the band to be unpredictable. The band aren't featured on the poster leaving a lot to the imagination creating enigma for the audience as to who this band is. The font follows the same theme as on the album giving them a trademark font that you would associate the band with. The date release of the album is on the poster informing the audience when the album will be out, a short date is used (9.10.13) rather then the longer date (9th October 2013) this signifies the band to keep things simple and as little as possible. The iconic zigzag featured on the album is present in the poster keeping with the continuity. There are no reviews from magazine company's on the poster as some posters do suggesting no one has listened to it yet keeping it secret but also going back to old style Arctic Monkeys where they are really indie (independent) and big companies don't know them. It also implies that they don't let other people's opinions matter and you either like it or you don't. The only other thing left on the poster is the record company logo, this signifies that the band are loyal to their label but also they are an independant label and therefore need to be shouted out.
