Audience Feedback

The first question we asked was "How old are you?" Of course, this was a very important question because it helps us to find out our target audience demographic and age is a question that will help us to identify with the audience, especially because we are the same age as them so it will be easier to create something that the audience will like. From the research, the majority of the people we asked (around eight, nine people) were of the age range that we intended to create a product for, fifteen to eighteen year olds.
The second question, "What is your gender?" we thought was extremely important also because we needed to see a mix of opinions from both boys and girls in order for our survey to be varied, which would help us get opinions from both sexes. Most of the participants were girls, which led us to think that girls like indie bands more because indie/alternative bands tend to be made up of men for whom the mainly girl fan base can 'idolize'.
"What is your occupation?" was the third question and we decided to ask it because it links in with the age question and it helped us to determine the target age range of our audience and how we can make a product that'll appeal to them.
We asked the question "What colour scheme would you associate with an indie music video?" because we found the colour to be a focal aspect in most of the videos that we watched. Our target audience found the same results as us, clearly, so we know that a black and white colour scheme would be relevant for the product that we choose to create.
This was an important question to ask because it will help us to decipher what type of music video we can create. We decided to give examples in order for the audience to be able to recognize the type of videos and it could help them choose which one they preferred.

Due to the research that we conducted as a group, we found that from the bands we looked at and the music videos we watched, a lot of the bands, if not all, were made up of males. So we decided to ask in our surveys what other people thought who hadn't studied the bands in greater detail and it was known that males are more popular within this genre and it aids our product because we know that if we want to create a stereotypical music video/band, our target audience would most likely expect to see men.

We chose four bands from our chosen genre and asked the target audience which they preferred. Arctic Monkeys was the most popular so we have chosen to base our band's identity and music videos off of ones that are like the Arctic Monkeys (or rather similar) because this is what the audience would like to see.

This was important to ask because we had to find out what elements to include in our digipak that our target audience would prefer to see as this would result in more listeners and more sales of the CD.

This was probably one of the most important questions because if we decided to use the band in the music video product that we are going to create then it's important that the audience are going to enjoy watching. The identity is important to look into as we have to think about clothing, makeup, props and other prospects of mise en scene to create the 'scruffy' image that the audience said they expect.

Obviously this question was necessary because we are creating a digipak which goes in a CD case. We found that people within the target audience do listen and buy CDs however online music streaming and other forms of music listening were more popular.

We didn't want to make our music video too long or too short so we asked how long people would expect it to be as our audience may lose interest if it is too long or may be disappointed if it's too short.

This was a general question because we wanted to know if our target audeicne would be interested in a music video for this genre and we wanted to see how many people would be interested in watching it.

We have included the band in our final product music video because we found that as well as our target audience saying that they'd prefer for the band to be in it but with a lot of the music videos we watched, especially those of The 1975 and Catfish and The Bottlemen, the band were seen in the video.

This question just gave us a general idea of how many people would watch the music video.
